New Year's Eve Buffet at Cafe Sunflower

Our friends from New York were stranded in Atlanta for a week, so we decided to keep them entertained by taking them to Greenwood's on Green Street. What ensues is a lot of fried chicken eating, but I, as always, opted for the very delicious veggie plate.

Yumbii Food Truck, Atlanta, GA

It's not too often that I come across a vegetarian taco where I am loving every bit of flavor as I did with these from the Yumbii food truck in Atlanta! I ate two (which was plenty), but I was hankering for more. They had just enough Korean kick to get me hooked, but not enough where my tastebuds were burning. The tofu was also cooked/fried to perfection. Not too crunchy and definitely not bland.

yello coconut curry with roasted corn, Japanese eggplant, Napa cabbage and Costata Romanesco squash, Bhutanese red rice, charred shallot, stone fruit & chile de arbol sambal, Thai basil-carrot-cucumber salad

walnut, grilled onion, zucchini & "merguez" seitan filling, warmed Israeli cous cous, English peas & pistachios in a lemon-mint dressing, frisee, shaved fennel & plum salad, red wine harissa

Cornmeal Crusted Fried Green Tomatoes
Lovage remoulade, picked green cherry tomato and cucumber salad, fino verde basil 

Salt & Pepper Sesame Crusted Oyster Mushrooms
tossed in scallion & Serrano chile, sea vegetable noodle salad with ginger aioli, nectarine-kaffir lime-lemongrass dipping sauce 

Fava Bean & Red Quinoa Salad
avocado, shaved radish & cucumber, orange segments, Belgian endive, pumpkin seed-aji chile vinaigrette

Coast Cafe, Bolinas, California

Uncle Bob took us out to kayak in the Bolinas Lagoon, and afterwards we were famished. We drove into Bolinas and had a "snack". We ordered a round of this delicious vegan corn chowder.
 
I followed it up with this homemade veggie burger.
 
Though the town has quite a long history of progressive hippies living in Bolinas, the veggie burger was nothing to write home about.

We came to Greens completely out of serendipity. Greens is an institution of vegetarian eating, known the world round for their incredible food and cookbook.
